Wikio: Oops, My Fault
When TechCrunch featured Wikio – a Swiss-based, Digg-like, Web 2.0 news search engine – a couple of days back, I missed just two words in Michael Arrington’s post:
Wikio, a Switzerland based company, was released in private Beta yesterday night (in French).
So, when I got an email from Wikio with a beta username and password (of course, in French), I logged into Wikio Beta only to see French all over. Critical readers will immediately note that if I had looked at the TechCrunch screenshots properly as all the French in the screens should have blasted through my thick skull.
In any case, Wikio looks like a very interesting service (after using Babelfish to look around), that could very well bring Digg-likeness into mainstream topics. If you happen to understand French, you should give Wikio a test run. Just pop over to Wikio’s main page to subscribe to the beta. You should gain access in about two to three days (that’s how it went for me, at least).
