Free Blogger Templates: The “Definitive” List
Despite the rather negative stance of many bloggers against Blogger (or Blogspot) given its many limitations and uhmm… spam blogs, a large number of bloggers still use Blogger - a service which is pretty effective for many purposes, and is ultimately free.
This, of course, is reflected by the considerable number of Google searches coming this way on the term “blogger templates” and “blogspot templates” just because of a post here, and here. So, in order to reap the full advantages from this, it goes without saying that I should write even more on Blogger templates.
And so… here it is. Yet another “definitive” list of resources for Blogger/Blogspot templates:
- Blogger Templates
Provides 26 templates ported from a variety of quality open source themes. Featured this site earlier when I talked about its hidden AdSense link unit - which contrary to what I said earlier, is actually perfectly compatible with the AdSense TOS. - Free Templates
10 templates designed specifically for Blogger (I think). Most are three-column templates. - noipo.org
12 templates - where 9 are image-based and 3 are text-based. - Free Blogger Templates
23 two-column templates. - Templates 4 Fee
10 two-column templates. Site is in Portuguese. - Point of Focus
7 templates. Some two-column, while others come with three columns. - Ehsany.tk
26 templates. Some templates come with support for multiple blog platforms (e.g. Movable Type, etc.). Most templates come in two languages - English and Farsi. - BlogSkins.com
A very large selection of user-contributed Blogger templates (in the thousands). Also available are templates for MT, Dairyland, Livejournal, Roller Weblogger, and Xanga. - iBlogskins
20+ themes, with most (if not all) constructed on an image map base. Due to the highly graphical nature of the themes, however, file sizes (and thus, loading times) are considerably larger than normal. Most suitable for personal blogs.
P.S.: I’m sure a few will argue that Blogger users are not the ideal demographic. But when you think about it, they might actually be tempted to switch to WordPress when they experience the sheer power of a WP blog. So, by pulling Blogger users into your (WP) blog, you’re actually doing a favour to the blogosphere.
Of course, I know this blog isn’t the ideal WP blog - in terms of design or otherwise… but it’s the thought that counts!
