BlogHer Ad Network for Female Bloggers
Ahh, another advertising network. Don’t get me wrong. Niche advertising networks can only help its publishers get maximum opportunities and earnings. But I wonder how many more of these networks are going to pop-up as people recognize the money to be made from being the middleman between the advertiser and the publisher.
Anyway, enough of the rant and back to business. Just yesterday, BlogHer - an online guide to women bloggers - announced the launch of a new advertising network “…for blogs written and read by women…” which will primarily serve graphic media ads. As a side note, I wonder whether BlogHer will punish its publishers for attracting male traffic - just like how YPN punishes its publishers for attracting traffic from non-US countries.
This launch means that any blogger seeking a revenue source now has quite a number of ad networks to choose from. From contextual advertising networks such as Adsense, YPN, and Clicksor to text ads from Adbrite, text link ads from Text Link Ads, as well as graphical ads from BlogAds and BlogHer, bloggers now have substantial choice especially if they reach the necessary popularity threshold (i.e. enough traffic).
Oh yes, BlogHer managed to launch its ad network right in time for Mother’s Day too.
