Blogging for ZDNet

An example of one of the big boys looking to expand its presence in the blogosphere is probably ZDNet. Their Jan 5 advert for tech bloggers:

Do you have a passion for technology? Want to share your from-the-trenches perspective with ZDNet’s readers? ZDNet is expanding its coverage with a series of new blogs on a variety of business and technology topics. We’re also seeking lT execs to contribute to our blogs covering the education and government fields.

ZDNet already has 26 blogs/bloggers on their payroll - on a variety of tech topics, i.e. spyware, Web 2.0, etc. At least, that’s what I can see on their internal blogroll. Reader participation looks strong, which is to be expected given the profile of ZDNet. So, if you have the necessary experience to blog for ZDNet, I suppose this would be good exposure and probably not to bad on the money side either:

And yes, we’ll pay for steady, high-quality blogging.

Of course, it will also help if you’re the type that looks at blogging as an instantaneous steady income source, rather than a long-term and unpredictable venture.
