Adsense Video Ads Out of Beta

JenSense reports that Adsense video ads have “graduated” from the rich media beta test to become part of the Adsense ad lineup, but these ads will only be available to AdWords advertisers in the United States, Canada and Japan.

Both CPM and CPC video ads will be available, and like Adsense’s text and image ads, the video ads can be run on either a keyword or per-site basis.

As a publisher, my opinion is that video ads are an irritant (especially in this case, where publishers are not able to opt-out of it). They disrupt well-planned blog (or site) designs, and attract too much attention away from your content. But given the rise of rich media in recent days (e.g. YouTube, related mashups, etc.), I guess it is inevitable that video ads would become a part of our ad line-up.
