9rules: FineFools Mark II?

If you’ve been paying even the slightest bit of attention at the blogosphere and the forever interesting news that pops out of it, you would have noticed the Paul Scrivens-launched “jihad” against 9rules members that don’t meet specific uhh… requirements. Now, to me, it does look like very tasty link-bait just a little like the way FineFools - Paul Scrivens’ previous blog network incarnation - disintegrated (too harsh a word here, I admit), though I doubt 9rules will ever fall to that level.

Anyway, there’s quite a bit of news on this whole subject, so let’s simplify it into a list of links:

  1. The Blog Herald: Scrivs Launches Jihad Against 9rules Members
One of the places where the shit started to hit the fan. “Jihad” was perhaps too strong a word, and perhaps accusations came too early, but it’s really too early to know the truth.
  2. Not Too Geeky: 9rules Is Getting Smaller
A response to The Blog Herald’s post, with a very interesting bitch-slapping drama in the comments section. 9rules Community Director attempts to take the flak.
  3. The Blog Herald: 9rules: WTF?
A response to the response by Tyme from Not Too Geeky. As expected, TBH and 9rules don’t see eye to eye.
  4. Jack of All Blogs: I Smell A Rat
Another response to the “jihad”. This one, of course, was always going to be more controversial.
  5. The Blog Herald: 9rules: WTF 2
Just some filler, to me at least.
  6. The Blog Herald: 9rules: WTF 3
About “ultra-secret moles” and info about “…an organized attempt over on the 9rules forums to get members to post posts with “I love paul scrivens” as the post title and talking about how much they love him.”
  7. The Blog Herald: 9rules WTF 5: 2 more blogs kicked out, Death Toll Now Stands at 3
Yes, I skipped WTF 4 because I felt it was already covered by this one. In this post, The Blog Herald stands by its opinions on the “jihad”. No end for debacle in sight.

There’s right and wrong on both sides of this incident. But until some confirmed truths spill out, I think outsider comments (like mine) would only be flame-bait.

[…] If you want some background on the issue, I suggest reading the extended coverage by Duncan Riley here, here and here (in chronological order) or jumping to Jamsi’s summary post over at WorkBoxers. This is definitely one of those “stories” where the resulting comment “wars” light up your day with fun and laughter (not unlike the 9rules saga many months back). […]
